How Love Salzburg researches, fact-checks and updates its Salzburg guides — and who writes and edits them.

The short version
  • Every guide is researched against primary sources and reviewed by a named editor before it publishes.
  • Time-sensitive facts — Festival dates, opening hours, Salzburg Card terms — are linked to their official source so you can re-verify.
  • Recommendations are editorial and independent; we take no payment for inclusion and run no affiliate links.

Who writes and edits these guides

Love Salzburg's guides are written and edited by Lena Hofer, Editor, Love Salzburg, with the Love Salzburg editorial team. Lena Hofer is the editor of Love Salzburg, writing about the city's fortress, Baroque Old Town, Mozart heritage and the Salzkammergut lakes from years of living in and walking the city.

Each page carries a visible byline and a last-updated date so you always know who stands behind the advice and when it was last checked.

How we research and fact-check

We build guides from primary sources first: the Salzburger Festspiele for the Festival, the fortress and palace operators for hours and tickets, the city and Salzburg Card sites for transport and admissions, and on-the-ground knowledge of the Altstadt. Where a fact can change between visits — the Festival's opening date, a museum's reduced-admission day, the difference between the Salzburg Card and the Guest Mobility Ticket — we link the official source and tell you to confirm it before you commit money or time.

We separate the durable from the perishable. Evergreen advice (why the fortress kept the Old Town intact, how Augustiner's barrel-poured beer works, where Mirabell's axis points) is written to last; perishable detail (this year's Festival dates, current prices) is flagged as such and sourced rather than invented.

Independence and corrections

Recommendations are editorial. We accept no payment for inclusion and earn no commission on the venues, hotels, concerts or tours we mention; there are no affiliate links on Love Salzburg, and if that ever changes we will say so plainly on the page. Photography is either our own or used under licence with attribution.

We update pages as the city changes and re-date them when we do. If you spot an error, tell us and we'll fix it — corrections to factual mistakes are made promptly and noted where they matter.
